About This Quote

When the heart is heavy, what better cure than to sleep on your best friend? This quote comes from an 1812 poem called, “The Rest” by William Blake. The poem is about a man who misses his best friend who has gone off to fight in the war, and so he falls asleep on his friend’s grave. He then wakes up in morning and sees that it was all a dream. He is happy to have found his friend again in this dream, but when he wakes up he realizes that he will have to face the rest of his life without him.
